The reviews are in for the world premiere of Public Charge at Off-Broadway's Public Theater, which opened March 25. The work, written by former U.S. Ambassador Julissa Reynoso and playwright Michael J. Chepiga, began performances March 12, and the extended run is set to continue through April 12 in the company's Newman Theater. See what critics had to say below.

Tony winner Doug Hughes is at the helm of the work, which centers on Reynoso's real-life experience supervising Caribbean and Central American affairs for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after immigrating to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic and holding a role at a Wall Street law firm.

The cast features Marinda Anderson as Cheryl Mills, Maggie Bofill as Josefina Vidal, John J. Concado as Consular Officer 1, Dan Domingues as Ricardo Zuniga, Zabryna Guevara as Julissa Reynoso, Armando Riesco as Bruno Rodriguez, Al Rodrigo as Bolanos and Mujica, and Deirdre Madigan as Judy Gross. Understudies Nate Betancourt, Yesenia Iglesias, Paco Lozano, and Nairoby Otero round out the company.
