Clare Barron's Obie-winning You Got Older, which returned to Off-Broadway last month at the newly reopened Cherry Lane Theatre, has again extended its limited engagement. Originally scheduled through March 29, the production first extended through April 12 but will now continue an additional two weeks through April 26.

The new production is directed by Tony nominee and Obie winner Anne Kauffman, who also directed the play’s premiere. Alia Shawkat (Search Party, Blink Twice, Arrested Development) stars as Mae with Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Job) as Dad, Misha Brooks (The Best You Can) as Matthew, Caleb Joshua Eberhardt (Eurydice) as Mac, Paul Cooper (Buried Child) as Cowboy, Nadine Malouf (Queens) as Hannah, and Nina White (Kimberly Akimbo) as Jenny. Understudies include Michael McIntire (Hand to God), Jonah O’Hara-David (UntitledKenUrbanProject), Carl Palmer (Coal Country), and Nicole Rodenburg (Usual Girls).

Shawkat, who is making her theatrical debut, will next appear in NEON's The Wrong Girls, alongside Kristen Stewart and Seth Rogen. She was recently seen in Atropia, winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize.

The play follows Mae (Shawkat), who returns to her Washington hometown to take care of her ailing father after losing her job and her boyfriend. When she unexpectedly meets a mysterious stranger, she has the startling realization that maybe the intimacy she’s been craving is easier with the unknown, rather than with her own family.

“The chance to revisit this play with Anne Kauffman is a dream come true,” said playwright Barron in an earlier statement. “We both got older. Who knows if we're wiser! But it's a beautiful experience to see the play through a new lens with a new venture on a precious, old stage. Life and intimacy continue to confound.”

The production also has scenic design by Tony nominee Arnulfo Maldonado (Buena Vista Social Club), costume design by Obie winner Ásta Bennie Hostetter (John), lighting design by Tony nominee Isabella Byrd (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club), and sound design and composition by Tony nominee Daniel Kluger (Oh, Mary!). Taylor Williams is the casting director, and Aura Michelle is the production stage manager.

You Got Older received its world premiere in 2014 at HERE Arts Center, presented by Page 73, under the direction of Kauffman.

Cherry Lane Theatre and Matt Ross are producing with Crooked Letter, Joe Hetterly, Eric Kuhn and Adam Rodner, Concord Theatricals, Amplify Pictures/Gregory Hosono, Michael Ngo/Salem Productions, and David Thomas Tao/Rosemary and Kenneth Willman.
