Performances of Julia Jarcho’s Marie It’s Time havebeencanceled through September 17 due to a positive COVID test within the company.
The production at HERE’s Dorothy B. Williams Theatre will resume September 21. The Off-Broadway run, originally scheduled through September 24, has been extended through October 1.
Created and produced by Obie-winning downtown company Minor Theater, Marie It's Time began previews September 7 ahead of its September 9 opening night.
Drawing inspiration from Georg Büchner’s 1913 play Woyzeck, Jarcho performs in her own work for the first time. She stars alongside Jennifer Seastone in the fight for the role of Büchner’s lead Marie, joined in the “fucked-up mixtape about love, motherhood, and violence” by Kedian Keohan as Major.
Directed by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, the show features original music composition by Jarcho and Jeff Aaron Bryant, sound design by Ben Williams and Elliot Yokum, set design by Meredith Ries, costume design by Hahnji Jang, and lighting design by Ebony Burton.
The revue features reconstructions from West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Singin’ in the Rain, and more while celebrating Susan Stroman, Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, and Billy Wilson.
Those who donate a new unwrapped toy worth more than $10 will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a participating Off-Broadway show of their choice.
