A docuseries from Emmy and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth (WickedYou're a Good Man, Charlie Brown) and Emmy-winning director-choreographer Kenny Ortega (MarilynNewsies)—about 8th to 12th graders as they explore the world of performing arts through master classes—is in the works. Alan Powell, Steve Barnett, and Vicky Patel of Monarch Media will produce 1300 Miles to Broadway, inspired by Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp.

In 2015, Chenoweth began running her Broadway Bootcamp in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Reported by Deadline, 1300 Miles to Broadway will follow Chenoweth as she hosts this year's two groups of students, aged 13-15 and 16-18, from around the world for the one-week camp at the Performing Arts Center's Kristin Chenoweth Theatre. The week will conclude with live performances featuring students and faculty.

Broadway talents and industry professionals joining this year include musical director Mary Mitchel Campbell, actor and musician Jordan Fisher, Owen Patrick Joyner, Booboo Stewart, Madison Reyes, and Oscar-, Grammy-, and Tony-winning lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Michael Orland, Nate Patten, and Cynthia Kortman Westphal will serve as musical directors and vocal coaches. Serving as choreographers will be Tyler Hanes, Kelly Devine, Paul Becker, Deidre Goodwin, Kaitlyn Frank, and Alif Sankey. Faith Prince, Lara Teeter, Zak Barnett, and Kevin Chamberlin will be acting teachers, while Chenoweth's vocal coach, Celeste Simone, will lead voice coaching.

“It goes to show you no matter where you’re from, if you do the work, you can do it,” Chenoweth shared with Deadline. “My main goal at camp is to inspire, which is easy when you’re working with folks like Kenny Ortega, Paul Becker, Louanne Madorma, and Kim Vento.”

“We share the enjoyment of working with young people, providing them with a non-judgmental atmosphere to grow as artists providing them with education, experience, and the tools to own the self-confidence needed to pursue a career in the performing arts,” added Ortega.

Ortega directs and executive produces the series, with Chenoweth, Powell, Barnett, and Patel also serving as executive producers. Paul Becker, Scott Lochmus, Louanne Madorma, and Kim Vento join as producers. Monarch will take the project to market.
