Hear Eleri Ward's Acoustic Folk Take on Into the Woods' 'No One Is Alone' | Playbill

Cast Recordings & Albums Hear Eleri Ward's Acoustic Folk Take on Into the Woods' 'No One Is Alone'

The track comes from Ward's upcoming second album of songs by Stephen Sondheim, set to release later this year.

Fans waiting for Eleri Ward's anticipated followup to 2021's A Perfect Little Death—which reimagines songs by Stephen Sondheim with acoustic folk covers inspired by the work of indie-pop artist Sufjan Stevens—can get a first listen to Ward's take on "No One Is Alone" from Into the Woods above. The single officially releases July 22. Pre-save the single here.

The track joins the June 17 release of "Another Hundred People," the album's first single. The complete album is expected to drop later this summer via Ghostlight Records.

Ward's acoustic covers of Sondheim's songs have amassed a viral cult following and received approval from the late Mr. Sondheim himself before his passing. Broadway alum Josh Groban is also reportedly a fan, inviting Ward to be the opening act on his currently running Harmony national tour after seeing her perform at New York's Rockwood Music Hall in 2021. The tour currently has dates scheduled through August 2.

"No One Is Alone" is arranged and performed by Ward, with string arrangements by Ellis Ludwig-Leone. The track is produced by Allen Tate.
