Bumps in the Bathroom: and other lost shows, a new recording spotlighting the work of musical theatre composer and lyricist Will Larche, will be released February 27 on all streaming platforms.
The recording—showcasing songs from such indie musicals as Bumps in the Bathroom, Bail Out the Musical, and Lesbian Love Octagon—boasts the talents of Tony nominee Beth Malone, Tony nominee Emily Skinner, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Ben Jackson Walker, Jared Reinfeldt, artists from Ring of Keys, and more.
The album also features the work of lyricist Kimberlea Kressal, The Wreckio Ensemble, musical director Julianne B. Merrill, orchestrator Scott Ninmer, and James Olmstead, who produced the album.
“I have so much excitement to express!," Larche says in a statement. "Indie musicals in New York are often passionately created, scrappily produced, and then lost without a trace. You were either there or you weren't. Preserving this history with an orchestra is honestly surreal for us. Like, Bail Out The Musical premiered in a crumbling basement, with a 55-key Casio played by a hairy mime. Now we have Broadway legend Emily Skinner embodying the role originally created by Indie legend Randi Berry, with 15 musicians behind her. It's a surreal Uptown-comes-Downtown collaboration, and everyone has been so game for whatever weird material we throw at them. And there's just something so deliciously subversive about putting our dirty words in their clean mouths."
