Watch: Darren Criss, Helen J Shen Bring Maybe Happy Ending to the Grammys

The original stars of the Tony-winning hit took to the stage for music's biggest night.

Original Maybe Happy Ending stars Darren Criss and Helen J. Shen took to the stage for music's biggest night February 1, performing at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The pair sang the show's title song during the premiere ceremony; watch the performance in the video above.

Maybe Happy Ending opened at the Belasco November 12, 2024. The work, featuring a Tony-winning book and score by Hue Park and Will Aronson, was the most Tony-winning show of last season. It was also one of three productions to be the most nominated of the season, with nods in 10 categories. Maybe Happy Ending was also nominated for Best Musical Theater Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

Tony winner Criss and Shen star as, respectively, Oliver and Claire, South Korea-based Helperbots that have been deemed obsolete. The pair form an unlikely bond, setting off a surprising and romantic adventure. The cast also features Dez Duron and Marcus Choi, along with understudies Steven Huynh, Hannah Kevitt, Daniel May, Claire Kwon, and Christopher James Tamayo. Casting is by Telsey & Co's Craig Burns.

Shen will take her final bow as Claire February 15. She will be succeeded by standby Hannah Kevitt February 17–April 2, followed by fellow standby Claire Kwon April 3–May 17. Further casting is to be announced. Darren Criss, Shen's Tony-winning co-star, is due to take his final bow May 17.

Two-time Tony winner Michael Arden directs, leading a creative team that also includes includes scenic and additional video designer Dane Laffrey, costume designer Clint Ramos, lighting designer Ben Stanton, sound designer Peter Hylenski, video designer George Reeve, music supervisor Deborah Abramson, and music director John Yun.
