Union Square welcomes Titanique as it has made port at Off-Broadway's Daryl Roth Theatre in a transfer from the Asylum Theatre, where it opened June 23 and played through November 13. Performances begin November 20 at Titanique's new home for a limited engagement through February 19, 2023.
The musical parody of James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster film, filled with a catalog of Céline Dion hits, features a fictional version of the Canadian singer as an omniscient narrator. Commandeering a tour group at the Titanic museum, she tells guests her version of Jack and Rose's love story. The irreverent show includes the film's famous "My Heart Will Go On," as well as "All By Myself," "To Love You More," and others to explain what really happened to and between the lovers.
Starring are Marla Mindelle (Sister Act) as Céline Dion, Constantine Rousouli (Cruel Intentions) as Jack, Frankie Grande (Mamma Mia) as Victor Garber/Luigi, Desireé Rodriguez (New Amsterdam) as Molly Brown, Russell Daniels (80's Prom) as Ruth, Carrie St. Luis (Wicked) as Rose, John Riddle (The Phantom of the Opera) as Cal, and Avionce Hoyles (Bat Out of Hell) as The Iceberg. The ensemble features Blu Allen, Courtney Bassett, and Donnie Hammond. Brad Greer serves as understudy.
Titanique was co-written by Mindelle, Rousouli, and director Tye Blue, and it features music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Nicholas Connell. The creative team is comprised of choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic designers Iron Bloom and Grace Laubacher, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer Paige Seber, sound designer Lawrence Schober, hair and wig designer Tommy Kurzman, and prop designer Eric Reynolds. Casting is by The Telsey Office/Rachel Hoffman and Henry Russell Bergstein. Lara Tenenbaum serves as production stage manager with Hannah Frye-Ginsberg as assistant stage manager.
The Off-Broadway production is produced by Eva Price. The show originally premiered in Los Angeles in 2017 before transferring to New York City's The Green Room 42. The show also had a virtual concert performance livestreamed from Le Poisson Rouge during the shutdown.
