Red Bull Theater will stream its 2019 all-female production Mac Beth, a re-interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth adapted and directed by Erica Schmidt. The production will be available May 16–29 only with a virtual ticket.

In Schmidt’s production, seven girls meet up in an empty lot against the backdrop of an American urban wasteland. Gathering to perform Shakespeare's Macbeth, the line between reality and fantasy blurs as they fall into the unchecked passions of their characters on an autumn afternoon, and discover what's done cannot be undone. Schmidt based the reinterpretation in part on the Slender Man and Skylar Neese murder cases.

"All of us at Red Bull are thrilled to be able to share Erica Schmidt’s visionary and contemporary take on Macbeth with these outstanding actors," said Red Bull Theater's Artistic Director Jesse Berger in a statement. "This production was a highlight (and audience favorite) from our last season prior to the pandemic shutdown, and it’s very exciting to be able to share it with audiences everywhere in this way.”
