Off-Broadway News Opening October 24, Ars Nova's Hound Dog Takes Audiences to Elvis Presley's Graceland

The world-premiering cross-cultural jam-session-meets-play from Melis Aker runs at Off-Broadway's Greenwich House Theater.

Presented by Ars Nova and PlayCo, Melis Aker's Hound Dog opens at Greenwich House Theater October 24. The world premiere began its Off-Broadway previews October 10 for a run through November 5.

A young musician returns home to Ankara, Turkey to take care of her widowed father. As she faces the family and community she left to travel the world, Hound Dog takes audiences on a sonic journey of memories as she digs into her father's strange pilgrimage to Elvis Presley's historic home, Graceland.

Starring are Olivia AbiAssi, Ashley Baier, Ellena Eshraghi, Mel Hsu, Matt Magnusson, Sahar Milani, Laith Nakli, Jonathan Raviv, and Maya Sharpe.

Machel Ross directs the production which features music by Aker and the Lazours. The creative team also includes music director and sound designer Avi Amon, set designer Frank J. Oliva, costume designer Qween Jean, and lighting designer Tuçe Yasak.

Federica Borlengi serves as associate director, with assistant and associate designers including Michael Ruiz-del-Vizo, Amelia Camilo, Roya Abab, Jamie Tippett, and Brandon Fillette. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Destiny Lilly. Bryan Bauer serves as production stage manager with Caren Celine Morris as assistant stage manager.
