Eleri Ward has announced her second acoustic folk album of songs by Stephen Sondheim, a follow-up to A Perfect Little Death which released last year. The first single from the second record, "Another Hundred People," will be available to stream June 17. The complete second album will be released later this summer by Ghostlight Records.
Inspired by the music of indie-pop artist Sufjan Steves, Ward's acoustic covers of Sondheim's songs have amassed a viral cult following, and received approval from the late Mr. Sondheim himself before his passing.
A Perfect Little Death will also be released on vinyl June 24. Ward celebrated the vinyl edition in concert at Joe’s Pub June 9 in an encore performance following a sold-out June 7 engagement.
Ward will serve as the opening act for Josh Groban’s Harmony national tour this summer, which opens in Clarkston, Michigan June 17 and concludes in Los Angeles, Califronia August 2.
Ward's "Another Hundred People” is produced by Allen Tate and Ward, and arranged by Ward with string arrangements by Ellis Ludwig-Leone.
