Kate Hamill's Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Tragedy will receive its regional premiere at Louisville, Kentucky's Bingham Theatre. Actors Theatre of Louisville will present the play September 9-18.
Jennifer Pennington will direct the production which stars a cast made up mostly of local talent, including Lipica Shah as Mina Harker, LaShondra Hood as Doctor Van Helsing, Nick Jordan as Dracula, Dara Jade Tiller as Marilla, Alanna Darby as Drusilla, Mark Mozingo as Doctor George Seward, Brittany "BeeBee" Patillo as Lucy Westenra, Justin Jackson as Jonathan Harker, and Abigail Bailey Maupin as Renfield.
The adaptation, loosely based on the classic Bram Stoker novel, made its world premiere in New York in 2020. Hamill's take on the vampire tale is described as "a gleeful stake through the heart of the patriarchy."
The creative team is rounded out by movement, fight, and intimacy director David Anzuelo; voice and dialect coach Joy Lanceta Coronel; dramaturg Miss Hazel Jade; scenic and props designer Katelin Ashcraft; costume designer Anna Jenny; lighting designer Dani Clifford; sound designer Paul Doyle; and media designer Philip Allgeier.
Shaina Pierce serves as production stage manager, Ashley Hall as assistant stage manager, Paul Werner as director of production and operations, Alexia Hall as technical director, Emily Tarquin as casting director, and Kavin Moore as associate casting director.
