The pre-Broadway engagement of Tea at Five, starring Academy Award-winner Faye Dunaway as Katharine Hepburn, is set to open in Boston June 28 after beginning preview performances June 22. The reworked adaptation of Matthew Lombardo’s solo play is scheduled to run through July 14 at the Huntington Theatre.
The new adaptation streamlines the two-act format into 90 minutes and focuses primarily on Hepburn in 1983 as she recovers from a car accident injury, looking back on her famed romance with Spencer Tracy. The production is directed by John Tillinger, who helmed the original Kate Mulgrew–led production in 2002.
