Long Island's Argyle Theatre is seizing the day with a new staging of Disney's Newsies, set to perform January 29-March 22, 2026, in Babylon, New York. Tommy Ranieri will direct, with choreography by Trent Soyster and music direction by Jonathan Brenner.

The cast will feature Mason Ballard as Jack Kelly, Cara Rose DiPietro as Katherine Plumber, Keyon Pickett (A Christmas Love Story) as Davey, Jeremy DerMovsesian as Crutchie, Arielle Faye Beane as Medda Larkin, and Andrew Foote (Jekyll & Hyde) as Joseph Pulitzer. Additional casting, by Michael Cassara, is to be announced.

Adapted from Disney's 1992 movie musical, Newsies follows a group of turn-of-the-century newsies who strike when their bosses refuse to better their working conditions, a story that comes from true events. The stage adaptation features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, and includes such showtune favorites as "Seize the Day," "Carrying the Banner," and "Santa Fe." The work premiered at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse, becoming a surprise hit and transferring to Broadway in 2012, earning two Tony Awards for its choreography (by Christopher Gattelli) and score (by Menken and Feldman).

Argyle's production will feature scenic design by Christian Fleming, lighting design by Cameron Filepas, costume design by Amanda Scanze, sound design by Kimberly S. O'Loughlin, hair, wig, and make-up design by Holly Romero, prop design by Callie Hester, and music coordination by Russ Brown. Daniel Vaughn will serve as production stage manager, with Gabrielle P. Guagenti as assistant stage manager and Pat Downes as technical director.

Tickets are at ArgyleTheatre.com.
