The drama will be part of the Off-Broadway theatre's Inaugural VOLT Festival.

Directors Company's production of The Lucky Star at 59E59 has announced the full cast and creative team. Previews for the Off-Broadway show begin April 26. Opening night is set for May 5 with a run through June 12 in Theater A.

The true-story drama about a family torn apart by war will feature Skye Alyssa Friedman, Danny Gavigan, Nina Hellman, Eva Kaminsky, Alexa Shae Niziak, Alexandra Silber, Steven Skybell, Sky Smith, Dale Soules, and Stuart Zagnit.

Adapting Richard Hollander's book Every Day Lasts a Year: A Jewish Family's Correspondence from Poland for the stage, The Lucky Star has had two sold-out runs under the title The Book of Joseph at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore and at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, which first commissioned it.

Noah Himmelstein will direct, leading a creative team that will include Daniel Ettinger for scenic design, David Burdick for costume design, Cory Pattak for lighting design, Elisheba Ittoop for sound design, and Caite Hevner for projection design. Douglas Denoff serves as producer and casting is by Stephanie Klapper Casting.

59E59's VOLT Festival will feature three New York City premieres by one underrepresented writer. Karen Hartman is the inaugural playwright at the focus of this year's festival. In addition to Directors Company for The Lucky Star, non-profit theatre company Primary Stages will produce New Golden Age and MBL Productions with Mary J. Davis will produce Goldie, Max and Milk. All three productions will be presented concurrently across 59E59's three stages.
