Off-Broadway News Spring Awakening's Skylar Astin Will Be Seymour in Off-Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors

The hit Off-Broadway revival will also welcome Andrew Call for a limited engagement.

Stage and screen star Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect, Spring Awakening, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) will join the cast of the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors next month.

Astin will step into the role of Seymour May 17, succeeding Conrad Ricamora (Here Lies Love, Soft Power, The King and I), who plays his final performance May 15.

Andrew Call

The production also announced that Andrew Call (Groundhog Day, Rock of Ages) will play a limited engagement as Orin Scrivello, D.D.S. May 3–29 while original cast member and Tony winner Christian Borle is on a leave of absence from the production. Borle will return to the company May 31.

Stuart Zagnit (Caroline, Or Change; Newsies; Seussical) will join the cast as Mushnik April 19, replacing original cast member Tom Alan Robbins, who plays his final performance April 17. The production also features three new urchins: Tatiana Lofton (Once on This Island national tour) as Ronnette, Cristina Raé (America's Got Talent) as Chiffon, and Khadija Sankoh (Paper Mill Playhouse's Lost Boys) as Crystal.

Continuing with the Off-Broadway revival are Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard (Life with Judy Garland, Gypsy) as Audrey, Aaron Arnell Harrington (Rent 20th anniversary tour) as The Voice of Audrey II, and Eric Wright, Teddy Yudain, Stephen Berger, Josh Daniel, Jana Djenne Jackson, and Chelsea Turbin.

The Off-Broadway revival resumed its run September 21, 2021, after temporarily closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

The revival, directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, opened in October 2019. The creative team for the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic designer Julian Crouch, lighting designer Bradley King, costume designer Tom Broecker, sound designer Jessica Paz, puppet designer Nicholas Mahon, original puppet designer Martin P. Robinson, hair and makeup designer Tommy Kurzman, music supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger Will Van Dyke, and casting director Jim Carnahan. Puppets are by Monkey Boys Productions.

General management is by Live Wire Theatrical/Chris Aniello, and production stage management is by Howard Tilkin.
