Casting is complete for the Broadway production of Anthony McCarten's The Collaboration, which transfers from London's Young Vic, where it made its world premiere earlier this year. Previews will begin November 29 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre ahead of a December 20 opening night.
Joining the previously announced Jeremy Pope (Choir Boy, Ain't Too Proud) and Paul Bettany (WandaVision, A Very British Scandal) will be Krysta Rodriguez (Into the Woods, Spring Awakening) and Erik Jensen (The Exonerated, Coal Country).
Set in 1984, the Bohemian Rhapsody and The Two Popes writer's work centers on superstar artist Andy Warhol (Bettany) and then-newcomer Jean-Michel Basquiat (Pope) as they begin an unlikely collaboration on a modern art exhibition in New York. Pope and Bettany transfer with the production from London.
Rodriguez will play Maya, Basquiat's girlfriend, and Jensen will be Bruno Bischofberger, the art dealer and gallery owner who brings Warhol and Basquiat together.

Written by four-time Oscar nominee McCarten (The Two Popes, Bohemian Rhapsody), The Collaboration will be directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah (The Visitor, Tree), who also directed the London premiere. Also re-creating their work from London are scenic and costume designer Anna Fleischle, sound designer Emma Laxton, and projection designer Duncan McLean. Joining the team for the Broadway run will be lighting designer Ben Stanton and Ayanna Witter-Johnson, who will provide original music
The production will mark Pope's first return to Broadway since making history as a two-time Tony nominee in the same season, earning nods for his performances in both Choir Boy and Ain't Too Proud in 2019. Bettany, who has appeared on screen in The Avengers, WandaVision, and A Very British Scandal, will make his Broadway debut with the production.
The Collaboration is presented by special arrangement with Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Anthology Theatre, Stanley Buchthal, and Denis O’Sullivan. The world premiere was originally produced by the Young Vic Theatre London in January-March 2022 in partnership with Eleanor Lloyd, Anthology Theatre, Stanley Buchthal, and Eilene Davidson in association with Denis O’Sullivan.
