The ship of dreams has added more to its starry roster of passengers! The upcoming Broadway bow of Titaníque has added Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), John Riddle (Frozen), and Layton Williams (Everybody's Talking About Jamie) to its cast, as Rose DeWitt Bukater, Cal Hockley, and The Iceberg, respectively.
The Céline Dion jukebox musical, a parody of the epic film, will sail into the St. James Theatre beginning March 26, ahead of an April 12 opening night. The limited run will continue through July 12.
Riddle and Williams are the latest to join the upcoming Broadway production with an existing history with the project. Riddle will reprise his performance from the original Off-Broadway bow, alongside previously announced fellow OGs Marla Mindelle as Céline Dion, Frankie Grande (Rock of Ages) as Victor Garber, and Constantine Rousouli (Wicked) as Jack Dawson. Williams will reprise his Olivier-winning turn as The Iceberg from the musical's recent London premiere.
Previously announced casting also includes Jim Parsons (Mother Play) as Ruth Dewitt Bukater, and Deborah Cox (The Wiz) as Unsinkable Molly Brown. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Rachel Hoffman.
Featuring a book by Mindelle, Tye Blue, and Rousouli, and a soundtrack of songs made famous by Céline Dion, Titaníque sends up the epic 1997 film about the ill-fated ocean liner, with Dion herself leading a tour at the Titanic museum to explain what really happened between Jack and Rose. The musical began as a one-night-only concert in Los Angeles in 2017, coming to New York's Green Room 42 the following year before becoming a fully staged Off-Broadway musical in 2022. Originally intended to be a limited run, the production became a surprise smash hit, transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre for a three-year run that ended earlier this year. Since its premiere, the musical has spawned stagings in Australia, Canada, London's West End, Chicago, and Paris.
Most of the original Off-Broadway creative team will reunite for the Broadway bow, including director Blue; choreographer Ellenore Scott; music supervisor, arranger, and orchestrator Nicholas James Connell; scenic designer Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Laubacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production; costume designer Alejo Vietti; lighting designer Paige Seber; sound designer Lawrence Schober; and hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe. New for the Broadway run will be hair and wig designer Charles G. LaPointe. ShowTown Theatricals is serving as general managers.
Eva Price is again producing.
