Martin Dockery’s The Stakeout plays Off-Broadway's SoHo Playhouse beginning November 25 as part of the International Fringe Encore Series. Selected from shows at 15 international fringe festivals, the two-person play is performing November 25-27 and November 29, followed by additional performances December 21-23 and 26.
Dockery stars in his play alongside Andrew Broaddus as two men on a stakeout watching two other men who are on a stakeout of Dockery's and Broaddus' characters. Within the themes of isolation, the show explores the repercussions following family trauma in a mix of comedy and drama.
Vanessa Quesnelle directs the production which was discovered at Edmonton Fringe. Prior to its Off-Broadway run, the show has toured the North American fringe festival circuit, including sold-out runs in the Canadian cities of Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton. The International Fringe Encore Series supports opportunities for artists and shows at international fringe festivals. As one of the selected shows, The Stakeout will be reviewed for consideration for the series' Outstanding Production award, which would include another Off-Broadway run in 2023.
Additional shows taking part in the International Fringe Encore Series at SoHo Playhouse include Truth's A Dog Must to Kennel, Abortion Weekend, Betsy Wisdom of a Brighton Whore, Be My Guest, Afghanistan Is Not Funny, Be My Thief, Generic Male, Love's Left Hand, Made in America, No Time for Words, Six Chick Flicks, or a Legally Blonde Pretty Woman Dirty Danced on the Beaches while writing a Notebook on the Titanic, The House That F*cks, and Troy Hawke: Sigmund Troy'd.
