National Tour News Chris Jackson Will Join Freestyle Love Supreme National Tour in D.C.

The Tony nominee will perform at select performances in May.

Freestyle Love Supreme founding member and Tony nominee Christopher Jackson will join the national tour of the show as a special guest for select performances at The Kennedy Center in D.C.. The Hamilton actor will appear at evening performances May 10-14 and matinees on May 14 and 15.

Conceived by Anthony Veneziale, the show is created by Veneziale and In The Heights and Hamilton collaborators Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show is described as a blend of hip-hop, improv theatre, and singing, with no two performances being the same. 

Freestyle Love Supreme concluded its second Broadway run January 2 at the Booth Theatre. It is also a recipient of a 2020 Special Tony Award and was featured in the Hulu documentary We Are Freestyle Love Supreme. The show is currently embarking on a national tour, set to hit 11 cities.

The tour company includes Andrew Bancroft a.k.a Jelly Donut; Richard Baskin, Jr. a.k.a Rich Midway; Jay C. Ellis a.k.a Jellis J; Aneesa Folds a.k.a Young Nees; Mark Martin a.k.a Mandible; Kaila Mullady a.k.a Kaiser Rözé; Morgan Reilly a.k.a Hummingbird; James Rushin a.k.a Not Draggin; Dizzy Senze a.k.a Dizzy; Chris Sullivan a.k.a Shockwave; and Anthony Veneziale a.k.a Two Touch.

As previously announced, special guests are planned for select performances during the tour, much like Jackson's short run. Other guests may include such Freestyle Love Supreme members as Miranda, Daveed Diggs, James Monroe Iglehart, Wayne Brady, Ashley Pérez Flanagan, Arthur Lewis, Bill Sherman, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Alex Lacamoire.

The show is produced by Kail, Miranda, Jenny and Jon Steingart, and Jill Furman. It features set design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Lisa Zinni, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.
