The musical, adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel with a book by Brunstetter and a score by Michaelson, played a Broadway run last year, opening March 14, 2024, and closing December 15 after 317 performances.
Co-directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, The Notebook follows Allie and Noah, who share a lifetime of love despite forces that threaten to pull them apart. Despite a brief Main Stem run and ending the 2024 Tonys empty-handed, the show has attracted a passionate fan base, with its 11-o-clock number "My Days" becoming a particular favorite among theatre fans.
The production features choreography by Katie Spelman, scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Lucy Mackinnon, and hair and wig design by Mia Neal. The production’s music supervisor is Carmel Dean, who collaborated on arrangements with Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy. Tina Faye music directs.
