He's finally breaking free from the mirror! The previously postponed tour of The Who's Tommy is back on, with the North American tour now set to launch from Cleveland, Ohio's Playhouse Square in fall 2026. The tour is scheduled to visit Boston, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis, and more in its first year, with a full itinerary to be announced.

This staging, the second Broadway Tommy directed by Des McAnuff, played the Main Stem in 2024, with a run of 20 previews and 132 performances. The tour had been announced to launch last year, but was postponed to fall 2026.

Based on The Who's 1969 rock opera Tommy, the musical follows the young Tommy Walker. After witnessing his father shoot his rival, Tommy is emotionally lost, and spends his time staring endlessly into the mirror. Then, an innate knack for pinball catapults him into celebrity status. The show features a book by McAnuff and Pete Townshend of The Who, and music and lyrics by Townshend.

McAnuff has reassembled his most recent Broadway creative team for the tour, including choreographer Lorin Latarro (Once Upon a Mattress), music supervisor and arranger Ron Melrose (Jersey Boys), scenic designer David Korins (Hamilton), projection designer Peter Nigrini (Here Lies Love), costume designer Sarafina Bush (for colored girls...), lighting designer Amanda Zieve (Escape to Margaritaville), and sound designer Gareth Owen (Back to the Future).

Casting will be announced at a later date.
