Under the direction of James Hillier (The Height of the Storm), Dexter Flanders' Foxes will run as part of 59E59 Theaters' Brits Off-Broadway season this summer beginning June 1. Presented by Defibrillator and M. Green Productions, the show will open June 7. It will run through July 2 in Theater A.
Starring in the cast will be Tosin Alabi (Queens of Sheba), Raphel Famotibe (Sex Education), Bayo Gbadamosi (The Great), Suzette Llewellyn (The Fellowship), and Nemide May (Interruptions).
Following a young Black man named Daniel, Foxes explores the Black gay experience. Growing up in London's Caribbean community, Daniel's relationship with his best friend Leon takes an unexpected and taboo turn.
“Foxes for me is a Black love story,” said playwright Flanders in a statement. “It captures a very specific strand of what black love can look like and the varied complexities that can present themselves when faced with a question we all face in life: Who am I?”

The creative team is rounded out by set designer Erin Guan, lighting and video designer Will Monks, sound designer Josh Anio Grigg, fight director Esme Cooper, intimacy director Robbie Taylor Hunt, and movement director Gerrard Martin. Casting is by Nadine Rennie.
The play first premiered at London's Theatre503 in 2021, and subsequently transferred to play off-West End theatre Seven Dials Playhouse in 2022.
Brits Off-Broadway is being co-curated with New Diorama Theatre's Artistic Director David Byrne this year.
