The limited run of Happy Birthday Doug, produced by Michael Urie and performed by Drew Droege, closes June 26 at SoHo Playhouse. The encore presentation opened June 23 in celebration of Pride weekend.

Under the direction of Tom DeTrinis, the play is a "celebration of modern gay culture" and follows Doug at his 41st birthday party which sees his friends, exes, and nightmares make appearances.

Previously, the solo comedy was workshopped at New York's Pride Celebration in 2019 before running at the Celebration Theater and Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles. The work also played a 2020 run at Soho Playhouse, but closed early due to the pandemic.

The work is a follow-up to Droege's Bright Colors And Bold Patterns which ran Off-Broadway for five months at the SoHo Playhouse in 2018, and can be streamed via BroadwayHD.

Producers include Urie, Zach Laks, Andrew Tobias, Tom Wirtshafter, Dan T. Shaheen, Jamie deRoy, Riki Kane Larimer, Driemeyer-Sills Productions, and Anthony Francavilla with Mark Sullivan as the associate producer, William Vann Carlton as production stage manager, and Reed Ridgley serves as general manager.
