Mother Russia, the new Russia-set comedy by playwright Lauren Yee, belatedly celebrated its opening March 3 at Signature Theatre Off-Broadway. And though the celebration was initially postponed until this week due to the New York City blizzard, this later party did allow the team to make a very exciting announcement: Mother Russia is extending at the Signature through March 22. Read what critics had to say about the play here.

The play is set in 1992, following the fall of the Soviet Union. A trio of young people—played by Tony nominee Steven Boyer (Kimberly Akimbo), Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher), and Rebecca Naomi Jones (Hadestown)—try to find a sense of identity in the new Russia. Meanwhile, Mother Russia herself, played by David Turner (Into the Woods), comments on the proceedings.
