The Pushover, a new play from Pulitzer-, Oscar-, and Tony-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley (Doubt), will make its world premiere Off-Broadway via Chain Theatre. The company will present the work April 3–26, with opening night set for April 6.

Press notes share that the play follows "three bad-ass women who collide and collude at a spa in New Mexico and a bare-bones Asian restaurant in Queens. Dangerous and hungry, their weapons and their passions bleed into each other. They speak the language of the outcast, rough and sexual, and fight to survive, and to love."

Chain Theatre Artistic Director Kirk Gostkowski will direct.

“I am thrilled to share The Pushover with our audience,” says Gostkowski in a statement. “This is one of those plays you dream about receiving as an artistic director. Love, betrayal, comedy, crime… PASSION! Powerhouse female characters. All the shades of the human condition come to the surface, and the dialogue moves like a house on fire. John Patrick Shanley has brought us into this incredible world. I feel like I have a secret right now that I can’t wait for everyone to see.”

The production will feature scenic design by Jackson Berkley, costume design by Debbi Hobson, lighting design by Dariel Garcia, and sound design by Greg Russ. Rafaella Rossi will serve as stage manager.

Casting is to be announced.

Tickets are at ChainTheatre.org.
