Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, Starring Hugh Jackman and Ella Beatty, to Return Off-Broadway

Audible Theater is bringing the Hannah Moscovitch play back to the Minetta Lane after a run last year.

Hannah Moscovitch’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, starring Ella Beatty and Hugh Jackman, will return Off-Broadway this spring.

The piece, which received its U.S. premiere staging Off-Broadway in 2025, will return to Audible's Minetta Lane Theatre for a limited run March 17-April 20.

The work centers on Jon (Jackman), an acclaimed novelist, a charismatic university professor, and a middle-aged man staring down the end of his third marriage. Enter Annie (Beatty) a 19-year-old star student and a huge fan of Jon’s work. As attraction draws them into dangerous territory, Moscovitch uses the slippery slope of perspective to highlight how things can go too far too fast, for all involved.

Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes was recorded as an Audible Original during its original Off-Broadway run, which was released for listeners worldwide October 9, 2025. The show played in repertory as a part of TOGETHER's inaugural season, playing opposite Jen Silverman’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s Creditors, starring Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, and Justice Smith.

This return production will open TOGETHER's second season, with additional programming to be announced. The company will offer a quarter of the theatre's seats at every performance for just $35, all sold day-of via the TodayTix app or in-person at the Minetta Lane box office.

The creative team includes scenic designers Brett J Banakis and Christine Jones, costume designer Ásta Hostetter, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, and sound designer Mikaal Sulaiman. Ann James is the intimacy coordinator and Jim Carnahan is casting director. Merrick Williams is the production stage manager. Theatrical supervision is by ShowTown Theatricals.
