Between The Lines officially opens its Off-Broadway run at Tony Kiser Theater July 11. Previews for the new musical began June 15 after a single-day delay. Previously scheduled to open June 26, the production postponed due to positive COVID cases within the company.
The new musical follows Delilah, an outsider in a new school, who seeks comfort in her favorite book where she feels heard and understood. But, the lines between reality and fantasy begin to blur, and she has to confront whether she has the power to rewrite her own story.
Starring in the cast are Arielle Jacobs as Delilah, Jake David Smith as Prince Oliver, Vicki Lewis as Ms. Winx/Jessamyn Jacobs/Mrs. Brown/Kyrie, Hillary Fisher as Allie/Princess Seraphima, Will Burton as Frump/Ryan, Jerusha Cavazos as Janice/Marina, John Rapson as Dr. Ducharme/Rapskulio, Wren Rivera as Jules/Ondine, Sean Stack as Martin/Troll/Dad/Delivery Person, and Julia Murney as Grace/Queen Maureen. Heather Ayers, Dan Hoy, Martin Landry, and Aubrey Matalon serve as understudies.
The work, based on the novel by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer, features a book by Timothy Allen McDonald (James and the Giant Peach), and a score by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson (Central Park).
Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) directs, with orchestrations and arrangements by Gregory Rassen (Bandstand). The creative team also features choreographer Paul McGill (The Legend of Georgia McBride), music director Daniel Green (Almost Famous), scenic designer Tobin Ost (Newsies), costume designer Gregg Barnes (Mean Girls), lighting design by Jason Lyons (Rock of Ages), sound design by Ken Travis (Aladdin), projection designer Caite Hevner (In Transit), and hair and makeup designer J. Jared Janas (Jagged Little Pill).

The 2021 concert preceded the acclaimed Off-Broadway staging of Creel's musical inspired by his time wandering the collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Original Hairspray cast members Laura Bell Bundy, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Kerry Butler star in an evening of songs and anecdotes from their careers.
The London production is part of Brooklyn Academy of Music's winter and spring 2025 season, which also includes Whitney White's Macbeth in Stride and more.
Lupita Nyong'o, Katrina Lenk, Jelani Alladin, and more were on hand to celebrate the October 31 opening night of Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs' new musical.
