Irish Repertory Theatre will give an American premiere to David Ireland (Cyprus Avenue)'s Ulster American next year, performing March 6-May 10, 2026. Opening night will be March 15. Ciarán O'Reilly (The Weir) will direct.
Leading the cast will be Tony winner Matthew Broderick, playing Oscar-winning Hollywood star Jay Conway as he, playwright Ruth Davenport (Geraldine Hughes) and director Leigh Carver (Max Baker) meet on the eve of the beginning of the rehearsals for a world premiere play they're all working on together. Press notes share the work "reveals some raw contradictions at the heart of modern storytelling and political posturing."
