Off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre has partnered with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and director Annie Baker to launch the Cherry Lane Playwrights Collective. The non-profit program will support rising playwrights in the downtown theatre scene with developing new plays and works.
The initiative will select six writers to join the year-long program. Playwrights who have not yet had their work staged on or Off-Broadway are encouraged to submit a full-length play for consideration.
Baker is a Pulitzer winner for her 2013 play The Flick. She wrote and directed Janet Planet for the screen in 2023 with A24, Cherry Lane's parent company.
