Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre will give an American premiere to Mary Kate O Flanagan's solo show Making a Show of Myself, performing on the company's W. Scott McLucas Studio Stage February 4-March 1, 2026. Opening night will be February 8.
Written and performed by O Flanagan, the work celebrates seanchas, or the ancient Irish art of storytelling, with O Flanagan bringing six true stories to the stage while exploring the power of sharing them. Will O'Connell is directing.
The play premiered at Dublin's Smock Alley Theatre in 2023, returning for an encore run and then touring Ireland the following year.
O Flanagan is a storyteller and both a credited screenwriter and frequent uncredited screenplay doctor, with projects including the series Spartacus Rising and the features Heart of Darkness, My Huckleberry Friend, Airlift to Biafra, and Kicking the Habbit. She's been named a Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth events in both Ireland and Los Angeles.
Tickets are at IrishRep.org.
