Sweat tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory floor. But when layoffs, promotions, and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat.
The production will have set design by Christopher Barreca, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Anne Militello, sound design by Paul James Prendergast, and projection design by Yee Eun Nam. The production stage manager is David S. Franklin.
Sweat was nominated for three 2017 Tony Awards: Best Play and nominations for Johanna Day and Michelle Wilson for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play. While the production didn’t take home any Tony Awards, it was awarded the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, making Nottage the first woman to win the prestigious award twice.
