Tony Award nominee Will Swenson and Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita will star in the La Mirada Theatre production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The Southern California venue will stage Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler's beloved musical January 30–February 22, 2026. 

Tony winner and Seinfeld star Jason Alexander will direct the production, featuring choreography by Lee Martino, and musical direction by Darryl Archibald. The production will also feature Jonathan Tunick's original orchestrations from the 1979 premiere.

Adapted from the Christopher Bond play of the same name into a book by Hugh Wheeler, Sweeney Todd centers on its titular barber who seeks revenge on a corrupt judge and turns to murder, with neighbor and accomplice Mrs. Lovett ultimately discovering they can dispose of the evidence by serving up the most unsettling meat pies to the people of London. 

Swenson most recently starred on Broadway in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical. He has also appeared in Waitress, Les Miserables, and Hair, for which he received a Tony nomination. Margherita performed in the Broadway revival cast of Gypsy last season, and also originated the role of Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical.
