Los Angeles's Center Theatre Group will stage a new production of David Byrne and Fatboy Sim's Here Lies Love at the Mark Taper Forum next year.

The production, which will be directed by CTG's Artistic Director Snehal Desai, will run at the Taper from February 11-March 22, 2026. Opening night will be February 18.

The immersive disco musical is based on the real story of Filipino First Lady Imelda Marcos, whose husband Ferdinand Marcos was the 10th president of the Philippines and ruled as dictator for 20 years until 1986. The show officially opened on Broadway July 20, 2023 at the Broadway Theatre after beginning previews June 17, and closed November 26, 2023, after 33 previews and 149 regular performances.

“I’m excited to mount a brand-new production here in Los Angeles, which is home to the largest Filipino community outside of the Philippines," shared Desai. “Here Lies Love is a story that asks what happens when celebrity, corruption, and power collide, and how it sometimes takes an entire nation to stand up to an authoritarian-minded leader. It is a story that, in many ways, feels all too familiar to today.”

Desai will lead a robust local creative team, including choreographer William Carlos Angulo, music directors Joe Cruz and Jennifer Lin, scenic designer Arnel Sancianco, projection desighter Yee Eun Nam, costume designer Jaymee Ngernwichit, sound designer Brian Hsieh, associate director Janelle Dote Portman, associate choreographer U.K. Mangune, dramaturg Ely Sonny Orquiza, and illusion consultant Jim Steinmeyer.

Casting, by Michael Donovan Casting, will be revealed at a later date.
