Did you know there were 2 jukebox musicals this season? This and other numerical surprises from this Broadway season.

As Broadway looks back on the 2022-23 season, it's time to take stock of how the numbers stack up. While Some Like It Hot has the potential to make history if it wins all of its 13 nominations, there's some other numerical surprises worth noting—like KPOP leading the charge of launching Broadway debuts with 24 fresh faces.

Maybe you want to know how many artists made their Broadway debuts? Or how many shows were adaptations of preexisting works? Take a look at the graphics below to get the answers.

The 76th Tony Awards will be held June 11 at the United Palace theatre. Ariana DeBose is reportedly still slated to host as the Tony Awards navigates the WGA strike which began May 2, the same day that Tony nominations were revealed. The WGA is pursuing fair contracts for screenwriters, and the union counts among its members a number of Broadway creatives. In the most recent development for this year's unscripted Tony Awards ceremony, the WGA asked its members to not attend the event and for members who are nominated to pre-record acceptance speeches or ask a non-union member to accept the award on a winning member's behalf.

Leading this year's nominations is Some Like It Hot, one of five shows up for Best Musical, along with & JulietKimberly AkimboNew York, New York, and Shucked. Up for Best Play are Pulitzer-winning works Between Riverside and Crazy, Cost of Living, and Fat Ham alongside Ain't No Mo' and Leopoldstadt. See the full list of nominations here.
