Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical will say farewell to Ashley Loren, who currently stars as the courtesan Satine, in April. The actor took to Instagram to announce that her final performance in the Tony-winning musical will be April 9 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
The date coincides with the departure of Tony winner Aaron Tveit, who currently reprises the role of Christian; Tveit will be followed by the return of Tony nominee Derek Klena as the bohemian lover beginning April 11.
In her post, Loren called her time with Moulin Rouge! "singular and transformative" and addressed her character: "Satine, you’ve changed me. I’ve learned more about myself in my time spent with you than I could ever express and it’s been an honor bringing you to life on Broadway for so long. Thank you for the opportunity and the lessons—for your heart, your spirit, your strength, and your resilience."
The cast also currently features André Ward, David Harris, Eric Anderson, Caleb Marshall-Villarreal, Jessica Lee Goldyn, and Oyoyo Joi.
