Watch: Darren Criss, Helen J Shen Lead the Original Maybe Happy Ending Cast in a Tiny Desk Concert

The original cast of Broadway's Maybe Happy Ending reunited recently to perform a special Tiny Desk Concert for NPR. See Tony winner Darren Criss, Helen J Shen (who took her final bow in the musical February 15), Dez Duron, and Marcus Choi visit the NPR offices to perform special renditions of "Where You Belong," "The Rainy Day We Met," "A Sentimental Person," and "When You're in Love" from the Tony-winning Hue Park-Will Aronson score in the video above.

The Tony-winning musical continues its run at the Belasco Theatre.

Shen was succeeded by standby Hannah Kevitt, who continues through April 2, followed by fellow standby Claire Kwon, April 3–May 17. Further casting is to be announced. Criss is due to take his final bow May 17.

The musical opened November 12, 2024. The work was the most Tony-winning show of last season. The show was also one of three productions to be the most nominated of the season, with nods in 10 categories. See the full list of 2025 Tony winners here.

Maybe Happy Ending follows Oliver and Claire, South Korea-based Helperbots that have been deemed obsolete. The pair form an unlikely bond, setting off a surprising and romantic adventure. The current cast features Criss as Oliver and Kevitt as Claire, along with Duron and Choi. The company also includes understudies Steven Huynh, Daniel May, and Christopher James Tamayo. Casting is by Telsey & Co's Craig Burns.

Two-time Tony winner Michael Arden directs, leading a creative team that also includes includes scenic and additional video designer Dane Laffrey, costume designer Clint Ramos, lighting designer Ben Stanton, sound designer Peter Hylenski, video designer George Reeve, music supervisor Deborah Abramson, and music director John Yun.
