John Cameron Mitchell’s upcoming concert leaves the setlist in the hands of fate. The Tony Award-winning Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator and cabaret singer Amber Martin, along with Hedwig’s Tits of Clay band and special guests, will perform a selection of “timeless favorites” and songs from their careers during BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! July 23 at 7:30 PM at the Lena Horne Bandshell. The free show will feature an opening performance by singer-songwriter J. Hoard.
“In Cassette Roulette the audience helps us choose our songs by spinning our giant Cassette of Fortune,” shares Mitchell. “I’ll be randomly singing songs from Hedwig, Big River, The Secret Garden, Hello Again, all my movies, albums and my podcast musical Anthem: Homunculus. Amber will be doing material from her zany cast of original characters as well as tributes to Bette Midler, Janis Joplin, and Reba McEntire. Come on down for a very fun free show at Prospect Park’s Lena Horne Bandshell and spin the wheel!”
Mitchell and Martin will be backed by Justin Craig and Tits of Clay with music direction by Craig, lighting by Jojo Franjoine, costumes by Erik Bergrin, and video by Michael Zumbrun. The evening is produced by ArKtype.
