Celebrate the best of Black non-profit theatre in NYC November 30, as the winners for Audelco’s 2020 VIV Awards are announced in a virtual ceremony. Among the leading contenders are 73’s production of Zora Howard’s Stew with nine nominations, including Best Play, and the three nominees for Best Musical: Broadbend, Arkansas; The Dark Star From Harlem: The Spectacular Rise of Josephine Baker; and The Wrong Man.

The ceremony begins at 7 PM ET on Facebook.

Nominations were announced November 17. Sharon Fallon Productions’ The Dark Star From Harlem is this year’s most nominated musical with eight, including Best Lead Actress in a Musical for Iris Beaumier and Best Director for Tai Thompson. The Wrong Man earned six nominations and Transport Group’s Broadbend, Arkansas scored four.

Best Play contenders The New Englanders and Reparations tied The Dark Star From Harlem for second-most nominations.
