Noah J. Ricketts will lead a reading of a new musical version of Michael Poore's cult favorite fantasy novel Reincarnation Blues in the U.K. April 24 at The Other Palace. The work features a score by Jukebox the Ghost's Ben Thornewill and BTS songwriter Coyle Girelli, and a book by Laura Zlatos (Happily Ever After).
The comedic story centers on a soul who is reincarnated through 10,000 lifetimes on a quest to get to his one true love: death herself. Amy Hodge is directing.
The cast will also include Carly Bawden, Wendy Mae Brown, Keisha-Amponsa Banson, Josie Benson, Olly Dobson, Billy Cullum, Ahmed Hamad, and Luke Latchman.
The piece was originally developed at the 2023 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, and was a semi-finalist for the O'Neill National Music Theater Conference in 2024.
The project is being produced by Josh Sobel of FutureHome and Michael Graf with Lisa Dozier Shacket of LDK Productions serving as executive producer and general manager. Holly Reiss is co-executive producing the reading, and Short Street is serving as the reading's general manager.
