Chicago's U.K. tour plays Sunderland Empire starting May 31 starring Lee Mead as Billy Flynn. Dates for the traveling production have been scheduled through July 30.
Joining Mead are Brenda Edwards as Mama Morton, Faye Brookes as Roxie Hart, Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly, Jamie Baughan as Amos Hart, and B.E. Wong as Mary Sunshine.
The full cast also includes Ishmail Aaron, Michelle Andrews, Gabby Antrobus, Delycia Belgrave, Joel Benjamin, Tanisha-Mae Brown, Daniel Clift, Callum Fitzgerald, Emily Goodenough, Billie Hardy, Aaron Jenkins, Liam Marcellino, Theo Reece, Hollie Jane Stephens, and Harrison Wilde.
Chicago plays the following engagements: Sunderland Empire (May 31-June 4); Grand Opera House, Belfast (June -11); Theatre Royal, Plymouth (June 14-18); New Theatre, Cardiff (June 20-25); Winter Gardens, Blackpool (June 28-July 2); Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield (July 5-9); Theatre Royal, Norwich (July 11-16); New Theatre Oxford (July 18-23); and Venue Cymru, Llandudno (July 25-30). For select performances ini Belfast, Plymouth, and Llandudno, Sinitta will reprise the role of Mama Morton.
The musical features a book Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. It originally opened in New York in 1975, received a Broadway revival in 1996, and has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy Award. The 1996 Broadway revival was choreographed in the style of Bob Fosse by Ann Reinking. Walter Bobbie directed the production which was produced by Barry and Fran Weissler.
