The work about a love affair between a married doctor and a suburban housewife is making its first stop on its U.K. tour.

Kicking off its U.K. tour, Emma Rice's adaptation of Noël Coward's Brief Encounter opens its run at Salisbury Playhouse April 4. Previews began March 31 for the run through April 22.

At a train station's tearoom, a chance encounter between a married doctor and a suburban housewife sparks a love affair. But the must ask themselves: Is love worth risking everything for?

Directed by Douglas Rintoul, the cast stars Nicola Bryan as Myrtle Bagot, Hanora Kamen as Laura Jesson, Jammy Kasongo as Dr. Alec Harvey, Samuel Morgan-Grahame as Albert Godby, Tom Self as Fred Jesson/Stephen Lynn, Lucy Elizabeth Thorburn as Beryl, Luke Thornton as Stanley, and Chioma Uma as Dolly Messiter.

After Salisbury Playhouse, the production will make stops at New Wolsey Theatre, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds, and Northern Stage.

Brief Encounter features choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento and music direction, orchestration, and additional music composed by Tom Self. Also serving on the tour's creative team are lighting designer Jessie Addinall, sound designer James Cook, set and costume designer Jess Curtis, video designer Daniel Denton, and wardrobe supervisor Margaret Lock. Casting is by Debbie O’Brien.

New Wolsey Theatre and Wiltshire Creative, in association with Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, present the tour.
