Cast of 35 Revealed for London Return of War Horse
Nick Stafford's award-winning adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel begins performances in the National's Olivier in May.

Casting is set for the National Theatre revival of War Horse, which returns to its original home nearly two decades after its debut and following a recent tour of the U.K and Ireland.
Based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, adapted by Nick Stafford and originally directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, War Horse will play the Olivier May 16–July 30 with an official opening June 2. The Tony- and Olivier Award-winning hit blends naturalistic storytelling and breathtaking puppetry to bring Morpurgo’s coming-of-age novel to life onstage.

War Horse—about a young boy named Albert and his horse Joey, set against the backdrop of World War I—has become the most successful play in the history of the National Theatre. The play received its world premiere October 9, 2007, at the National, where it played for two seasons before opening at the New London Theatre in March 2009. War Horse subsequently won more than 25 major awards, including the Tony Award for Best Play, and has been seen by over 8.8 million people worldwide.
This tour revival is created by director Tom Morris with revival director Katie Henry. The creative team also includes set and costume designer Rae Smith, puppet designer Adrian Kohler for Handspring Puppet Company, lighting designer Rob Casey, director of movement and horse choreography Toby Sedgwick, puppetry director Matthew Forbes, and animation and projection designer Nicol Scott for 59.
Music is by Adrian Sutton with songmaker John Tams; the sound designer is Christopher Shutt, and the music director is Dom Coyote. Casting is by Jill Green with Paul Benzing as fight director and Rebecca Daltry as dialect coach.
