London gets a new revival of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End beginning March 18. Opening night is March 31, with the already extended run set to continue through June 20. Robert Icke directs.
The production is being led by Sadie Sink (John Proctor is the Villain, Stranger Things) as Juliet and Noah Jupe (Hamnet) as Romeo, with Jamie Ankrah (Christmas Day) as Peter, Dylan Corbett-Bader (King Lear) as Benvolio, Eden Epstein (Mary Page Marlowe) as Lady Capulet, Alex Felton (All's Well That Ends Well) as Abraham, Clark Gregg (Good Night, and Good Luck) as Capulet, Ada Grey (Chicago Fire) as First Servant, Kasper Hilton-Hille (Troilus & Cressida) as Friar John and Mercutio, Aruna Jalloh (For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy) as Tybalt, John Marquez (Doc Martin) as Friar Laurence, Caroline Moroney (All's Well That Ends Well) as Second Servant, Clare Perkins (Player Kings) as Nurse, David Shelley (Player Kings) as Apothecary and Montague, Lewis Shepherd (Dear England) as Paris, and Alexander Uzoka (Macbeth) as Gregory. Casting is by Julia Horan and Jim Carnahan.
The performance marks the West End debut for Stranger Things star Sink, who acted on Broadway as a child in the 2012 revival of Annie and more recently gave a Tony-nominated performance in John Proctor is the Villain last season. Icke was most recently represented on Broadway with the transfer of his Olivier-winning take on Oedipus, which he both adapted and directed.
The production features set and costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Tom Gibbons, and video design by Ash J. Woodward. The creative team also includes voice coaches Penny Dyer and Nick Trumble, fight director Kev McCurdy, associate director Jack Bradfield, assistant director Neetu Singh, costume supervisor Sabia Smith, prop supervisor Lily Mollgaard, production manager Kate West, production drama therapist Wabriya King, and wig, hair, and makeup supervisor Campbell Young Associates.
Empire Street Productions is producing.
