We've got the exclusive on a new performance video from Audible Theater's Mexodus, currently playing a hit, extended run at the Minetta Lane Theatre Off-Broadway through November 1. Watch creator-stars Nygel D. Robinson and Brian Quijada perform the live-looping musical's finale, "Have Mercy on the Proud," below.
The show is inspired by the real-life stories of African Americans who escaped bondage by going south into Mexico. Robinson and Quijada play all the characters in the show, and play all the music—with the help of a looping station that allows them to create the arrangements for every song in the show live in front of the audience every night.
After hit runs in in Baltimore; Washington, D.C; Berkeley, California; and New York, the duo revealed to Playbill that they will take the show on tour. And there's also talks of an encore engagement in New York. Mexodus will be recorded for release as an Audible Original June 18, 2026.
