The new musical The Butcher Boy finishes its world premiere run at Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre September 11. The show's limited run, which played the Francis J Greenburger Mainstage, began with previews July 21 ahead of the show's August 1 opening night.
The cast features Nicholas Barasch as Francie Brady, Joe Cassidy as Alo/William, Kerry Conte as Mary/Mary/Mary, Andrea Lynn Green as Ma, Daniel Marconi as Phillip Nugent, Michele Ragusa as Mrs. Nugent/Kathleen, Scott Stangland as Da. Teddy Trice, Carey Rebecca Brown, Polly McKie, and David Baida star as Pigs 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
Set in a Irish village in the 1960s, the musical follows local youth Francie Brady, who is frustrated with his small town, as he endures a pig-filled curse after taunting newcomer Philip Nugent. The surrealist coming-of-age tale takes audiences inside Francie's comic book dreamland as it becomes even more precarious.
