Mitchell Peck ("Priest") and J. Todd Harris ("Bottle Shock") will produce the film through their companies, Peck Entertainment and Branded Pictures Entertainment, respectively.

Fickman, who met Tony Award-nominated Lysistrata Jones book writer Beane on an earlier project, said in a statement, "Doug is truly as sharp a playwright as there is in the theatre today. I love this play and the music by Lewis Flinn. I'm confident this is a timely musical comedy that will resonate with young adult and teen audiences alike. I can't wait to work with this team on the movie."

Harris added, "Mitchell suggested Andy because he knew we were working together and it was the perfect recommendation. Andy totally gets this brand of smart, sexy comedy, and we know he can bring it to [a] wide audience."

Lysistrata Jones, about a group of girls who refuse sex from their boyfriends until they win in basketball, began its life at the Dallas Theatre Center (where the show was called Give It Up!) and then played Off-Broadway with the Transport Group, where the show was staged in a Greenwich Village gymnasium. It transferred to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre, where it opened Dec. 14, 2012.

Beane is currently represented on Broadway with The Nance and Cinderella. His previous theatre credits include the Broadway versions of Xanadu and Sister Act as well as the plays The Little Dog Laughed and As Bees In Honey Drown. Flinn has written scores for Little Dog Laughed and Charles Busch's Divine Sister as well as TV shows "Million Dollar Password" and "Power of 10."

Beane is represented by CAA. Fickman and Flinn are represented at WME. Producers plan to bring the pitch to financiers this summer.
