Isaac Byrne's The Ladder will run at NYC's IRT Theater next month for a two week limited engagement. Haley Rice will direct the reimagining of the Greek myth The Minotaur and Theseus, with performances beginning January 31. An official opening night is set for February 2.
Through fractured stories and competing truths, The Ladder transforms the tale of The Minotaur and Theseus into a "psychologically charged dismantling of heroic mythology," per press notes. The work follows Big T, who enters the Labyrinth to slay the monster and free his people, but what unfolds is not a tale of clean victory.
The cast will include James Jelkin, Justin Senense, Rebekah Rawhouser, Ken Orman, and Lucy Turner.
The production, staged in association with Messy Stars Productions, will feature lighting design by David Aab, sound engineering by Josh Koback, and costume design by Caycee Black. Annie Sheehy will serve as production stage manager.
