Broadway's Bobby Darin biomusical Just in Time has found a new star in Jeremy Jordan, who will succeed original star Jonathan Groff later this year. Jordan will join the company beginning April 21.
Jordan has become one of Broadway's most solidly booked actors in recent seasons, starring in the title role of The Great Gatsby in 2024 and picking up a Tony nomination for the title role in Floyd Collins last season. He's currently playing an encore run in The Great Gatsby at the Broadway Theatre, with other Broadway credits including Rock of Ages, West Side Story, Bonnie & Clyde, Newsies, American Son, and Waitress.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Jeremy Jordan to Just In Time—his talent, charisma, and emotional fearlessness make him the perfect artist to step into the role of Bobby Darin," says director Alex Timbers in a statement. "We're excited to tailor the show to Jeremy's many gifts and make a version of the show unique to him. Watching Jeremy bring Bobby’s swagger, vulnerability, and musical brilliance to life on Broadway is going to be electric, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it."
Groff's final bow will be March 29 as previously announced, ending a run that has seen nearly every performance completely sold out since the musical began last year. Groff is a Tony winner for his work in Merrily We Roll Along, and picked up another Tony nomination for Just in Time. He has also appeared on Broadway in Spring Awakening and Hamilton.
The production has not yet announced who will star as Darin between Groff and Jordan's runs.
Just in Time opened on Broadway April 26, 2025. Tony winner Timbers is at the helm of the immersive staging. The show tracks Darin's life story and sees Groff performing his greatest hits, including "Beyond the Sea," "Splish Splash," and "Mack the Knife."
With Groff starring as Darin, the cast also includes Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Sadie Dickerson (Vladimir), Tony winner Michele Pawk (Wicked), Joe Barbara (A Bronx Tale The Musical), Drama Desk nominee Emily Bergl (Good Night, Oscar), Lance Roberts (The Music Man), Caesar Samayoa (Come From Away), Claire Camp (Cats), Julia Grondin (Funny Girl), Valeria Yamin (Moulin Rouge!), John Treacy Egan (My Fair Lady), Tari Kelly (Mr. Saturday Night), Matt Magnusson (A Wonderful World), Khori Michelle Petinaud (Lempicka), and Larkin Reilly (Bad Cinderella).
The work, developed by Timbers and based on an original concept by Ted Chapin, features a book by Tony winner Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Shannon Lewis choreographs with music supervision and arrangements by Andrew Resnick.
The production also features scenic design by two-time Tony winner Derek McLane (Death Becomes Her), costume design by eight-time Tony winner Catherine Zuber (Moulin Rouge!), lighting design by Tony winner Justin Townsend (Here Lies Love), and sound design by Tony winner Peter Hylenski (Maybe Happy Ending).
Scott Rowen is the production stage manager, and Live Wire Theatrical is the general manager. Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens, John Frost, and Groff are producing.
