Hollywood has turned to Broadway for the upcoming screen sequel to the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, with Oh, Mary! star and 2025 Tony nominee Conrad Ricamora and Maybe Happy Ending star Helen J Shen both joining the cast in unspecified new roles, per Variety. Fellow Broadway alum Justin Theroux and Lucy Liu have also joined the company in new roles.

The long-in-development movie recently began production, and is currently expected to hit theatres May 1, 2026.

And, don't worry—the cast will largely be a true reunion of the original cast, including fellow Broadway vets Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Stanley Tucci as Nigel, and Tracie Thoms as Lily, along with Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Tibor Feldman as Irv Ravitz. Also back are director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna.

The original film followed Andy Sachs as she entered the ruthless world of fashion magazine Runway, becoming the beleaguered assistant to the fiercely demanding, Anna Wintour-like Miranda Priestly alongside the neurotically savvy Emily. Plot details for the sequel are, so far, scarce, but the film will reportedly pick up with Priestly still at the helm of Runway, navigating a decline in print publishing that leaves her in desperate need of advertising dollars under the purview of former assistant–turned luxury executive Emily.

Also newly joining the cast are B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Caleb Hearon.

The original film quickly became a much-quoted audience favorite after debuting in 2006. A stage musical adaptation is currently running in London's West End, featuring a score by Elton John and Shaina Taub and a book by Kate Wetherhead, and starring Vanessa Williams as Priestly.
